MRS. RAY STABE

Mrs. Ray (Evelyn C.) Stabe, 73, Plymouth county native and lifelong resident, died Tuesday (March 30, 1982) at Floyd Valley Hospital in LeMars, after an illness of six months. She was hospitalized one day.

Funeral services will be Friday at 1:30 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in LeMars. Rev. H. H. Schauland will officiate and burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens, rural LeMars, under the direction of the Mauer funeral home in LeMars.

A prayer service will be Thursday at the funeral home.

Evelyn Kounkel was born Dec. 31, 1908, in Stanton township to William H. and Elizabeth Erbs Kounkel. She was married to Raymond Stabe March 30, 1932, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Lincoln township. She died on the 50th wedding anniversary of the couple.

After her marriage she and her husband farmed in Stanton and Lincoln townships. They moved to LeMars in 1942.

She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and was active in church circles.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother and great grandchild.

Survivors are her husband, Raymond, LeMars; two sons, Gene Stabe, LeMars; a daughter, Mrs. Kenneth (Janice) June, Merrill; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Lloyd and Eldon Kounkel, both of LeMars; and a sister, Mrs. Emil (Fern) Grosenheider, LeMars.
