CLARENCE SINGER
Clarence U. Singer, 88, of LeMars, died Sunday, Jan. 26, 1992, at Plymouth Manor Care Center in LeMars.
Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 29, at the Presbyterian United Church of Christ in LeMars. Rev. Robert Grupp officiated and burial was at Resthaven Memory Gardens, LeMars.
Mr. Singer was born Sept. 19, 1903, in Remsen, Iowa, the son of Leonard and Catherine (Mader) Singer. He attended rural grade school in Plymouth county before graduating from LeMars High School. He served as corporal in the National Guard Company K. He married Cora Van Gorkum on Aug. 30, 1924, in Sioux City. She died in 1983. The couple farmed from 1930 until his retirement in 1968.
He was a member of the Presbyterian United Church of Christ.
Surviving are a son, Donald of LeMars; a daughter, Mrs. Leonard (Blanche) Wiederholt of Remsen; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Millie Singer, of LeMars and Amanda Byers of Moville.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Edward, Urban, John, Albert, and Francis; and two sisters, Hilda Byers and Cecilia Schuldt.
Casketbearers were Tom Singer, Dan Goodrich, Mike Wiederholt, Bob Wiederholt, Ken Wright and Ron Farmer.
