DONALD SINGER

Donald Singer, 70, of LeMars, died suddenly late Sunday, Aug. 2, 1998, at Floyd Valley Hospital in LeMars.

Donald Lee Singer was born Nov. 10, 1927, in LeMars, the son of Clarence and Cora (VanGorkum) Singer. He was raised in Union Township and graduated from Union Consolidated High School. On April 11, 1951, he married Dora Petersen at St. John's Lutheran Church in LeMars. Donald had farmed in Union Township for 40 years and had worked for Sioux Tools in LeMars for 35 years until his retirement. The coupled moved to LeMars in 1992.

Donald and Dora enjoyed traveling in the United States, Canada and Europe. Donald had also enjoyed camping, fishing and singing with the Floyd Valley Chordsmen. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in LeMars where he had served as a trustee.

Survivors include his wife; three daughters and sons-in-law, Lea Ann and Daniel Goodrich of Indianola, Sandra Sue and Paul Phillips of Lexington, Texas and Julie Ruth Singer of Newisk, Mass.; two sons, William Dean Singer of Emmetsburg, and Thomas Lee and Jean Singer of Adel; a sister, Blanche Wiederholt of Remsen; six grandchildren, John Hartle, Teisha Hartle, Jon Paul Miller, Leilani Miller, Luke Miller and Michael Singer.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Grace Lutheran Church in LeMars with the Rev. Larry Fett officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens Cemetery, rural LeMars. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today (Tuesday) with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. at the Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in LeMars.

Pallbearers will be Rick Langel, Ronald Farmer, Don Holck, Randy Luschen, Herman Bremer Jr., and Vernon DeRaad. Honorary pallbearers will be Richard Zimmerman, Henry Bader, Darrell Reiter, Jim Corley, and LaVern Pageler.
