Marlowe Merle Schmidt, 60, longtime LeMars resident and lifelong Plymouth resident, died Feb. 3, 1990, at Floyd Valley Hospital in LeMars.
Funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. John’s American Lutheran Church in LeMars. Rev. Gary Landsness will officiate and burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens in LeMars.
Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Monday with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Monday at the Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in LeMars.
He was born May 27, 1929, at Chatsworth, Iowa, to William and Pearl Frerichs Schmidt. He came to Plymouth County and lived here all his life. He was a land surveyor and worked in the county for over 30 years. He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1950 to 1952. He was a member of St. John's American Lutheran Church and a member of Wasmer Post 241, American Legion.
His marriage to Phyllis Ruble took place June 30, 1951, in LeMars.
Surviving are his wife, Phyllis of LeMars; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sheila and John Robinette, LeMars and Connie and Martin Johnson of Omaha; four grandchildren; his mother, Pearl Schmidt, LeMars; two sisters, Mrs. Marvin (Joyce) Langel LeMars, and Mrs. John (LaDonna) Pouloso of Derby, Kan.; a brother, LuVois Schmidt of LeMars.
He was preceded in death by his father, William Schmidt.
