Schleef, Lyle Henry 1922-1967

Funeral services have been set for Lyle Henry Schleef, 45, and William Michael Donlin, 64, who were killed instantly Thursday morning in a train-truck accident.

Services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. for Mr. Schleef and at 3 p.m. Saturday for Mr. Donlin at the First Methodist Church. Rev. Milo Morris will officiate at both services.

Mr. Schleef will be buried in Resthaven Memory Gardens, LeMars, under the direction of the Mauer funeral home.

A prayer service will be held Friday at 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

He was born Jan. 9, 1922, at Washta and had resided in LeMars the last 15 years. His parents are Oscar H. Schleef, LeMars, and Bessie (Streeter) Schleef, who preceded in death by.

Mr. Schleef was graduated from Cherokee High School and lived at Moville and Sioux City before coming to LeMars in 1952. He was a veteran of World War II and a member of LeMars Elks lodge, Wasmer post, American Legion, and was active in Boy Scouts and Little League Baseball.

He was a fuel jobber and operated a tank wagon service in LeMars.

Violet W. Walker and Mr. Schleef were married Jan. 17, 1941, at Cherokee.

Survivors are his wife, Violet; a son, Dennis Lyle Schleef and his father, Oscar H. Schleef, all of LeMars; and a sister, Mrs. Darlene W. McNally, Glendale, Ariz.

He was preceded in death by an infant sister.

Mrs. Schleef was a member of First Methodist Church.
