Robert "Bob" Rees
SAFFORD, Ariz.--Robert "Bob" Rees, 75, of Safford, Ariz., died Saturday, June 26, 1999, at his home in Safford.
Mr. Rees was born Feb. 25, 1924, in LeMars, the son of Robert Louis and Clarissa (Burkett) Rees, and was raised in LeMars. He entered the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II and served in the Pacific Theatre. On Feb. 22, 1946, he married Lois Eilers in Dakota City, S.D. (sic--NE). After the war, they settled and made their home in Iowa.
Bob began his career working on the docks of a poultry business in Carroll, and advanced through various positions until he became executive vice president of Dixie Home Foods in Shelbyville, Tenn. He later owned and operated his own trucking business. He retired in 1984 and moved to Safford, Ariz. in 1989.
He was a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and Safford Elks Lodge BPOE 1607.
Bob loved to hunt, fish, and golf, and will be remembered for his unique sense of hunor.
Survivors include his wife, Lois of Safford, Ariz.; his mother, Clarissa Rees of Des Moines; three daughters, Carol Radler of Tucson, Ariz., Peggy Gross of Carlsbad, Calif., and Trish and her husband Kevin Snow of Tucson, Ariz.; one brother, Dennis Rees and his wife, Gracellen of Des Moines; two sisters, Natalie Rees of Des Moines and Marian Rees of Studio City, Calif.; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Memorial services were held Tuesday, June 29, at the Safford Elks Lodge in Safford, with Caldwell Funeral Home of Safford in charge of arrangements.
Memorial donations may be made to the Mount Graham Hospital Wellness Center Rehabilitation Center in Safford, Ariz.
