ANDREW C. ROLFES

Andrew C. Rolfes, 66, of rural LeMars, died Thursday, March 2, 1995, at Floyd Valley Hospital in LeMars.

Andrew Clement Rolfes was born Sept. 20, 1928, in Union Township, Plymouth County, the son of Bernard and Caroline (Ruether) Rolfes. He grew up in the LeMars area and attended Catholic school in LeMars. On Jan. 17, 1956, he married Betty Schroeder at St. James Catholic Church in LeMars. He worked as a truck driver for a number of years for Charlson Produce and Pilley’s Produce. He worked for Sioux Tools in LeMars from 1956 until his retirement in 1982 due to poor health. He had helped Leonard Molzen farm for over 20 years and together they shared the hobby of working on antique farm tractors. He also enjoyed collecting toy tractors.

Survivors include his wife, Betty, of LeMars; four sons, Richard and his wife, Janice Rolfes of LeMars, Kevin “Cubby” Rolfes, LeMars, Tom and his wife, Ruth Rolfes, of Decorah, and Bill Rolfes of LeMars; three daughters, Jeanette and her husband, Dan Dembinski and Cindy and her husband, Arlin VanDerWiede of LeMars, and Carol Rolfes of Hawarden; 12 grandchildren; five step grandchildren; five brothers, Arnold Rolfes and his wife, Mary of Maurice, Bernard Rolfes and his wife Ann of LeMars, Lester Rolfes of Hinton, Leonard Rolfes and his wife, Colleen, of Craig, and Lawrence Rolfes and his special friend, Sue Krentz of LeMars; one sister, Sr. Dorothy Rolfes of Dubuque; a sister-in-law, Hilda Rolfes of Luverne, Minn.
