IRENE L. ROLFS
LE MARS, Iowa --- Irene Lucille Rolfs, 69, of LeMars, died unexpectedly Saturday, Aug. 12, 1995, at Resurrection Hospital in Chicago, Ill, while en route to a family reunion.
Services will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Presbyterian United Church of Christ in LeMars with the Rev. Dave Cave officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from noon until service time at the church. Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Rolfs was born July 2, 1926, on the family farm in Rock township, rural Correctionville, the daughter of Ernest and Essie (Fitch) Hanson. She attended rural school and graduated from Correctionville High School in 1943. She received a teaching certificate and taught country school in Banner Township, rural Woodbury County for two years. She married Richard D. Rolfs Sept. 30, 1944, in South Sioux City. The couple lived on a farm near Lawton and moved to LeMars in 1950. In later years, she enjoyed doing volunteer work at Brentwood Good Samaritan Center in LeMars.
Survivors include her husband; three sons, Rich and Cort Rolfs of Garland, Texas, and Garrett and his wife, Mary Rolfs of Rochester, Minn.; a brother and his wife, Harlan and Phyllis Hanson of Merrill; a sister-in-law, Patsy Hanson of Sioux City; a granddaughter, Meredith Rolfs; a grandson, Dustin Rolfs, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Loren Hanson.
