MINNIE H. PENDLETON

LE MARS, Iowa --- Minnie Helen Augusta Pendleton, 93, of LeMars died Saturday, Oct. 20, 2001, at Floyd Valley Hospital in LeMars.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in LeMars, with the Rev. Dr. Klaus W. Raab officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens in LeMars. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Thursday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., and a prayer service led by the Rev. William Kallestad at 7 p.m., all at the funeral home.

Mrs. Pendleton was born April 2, 1908, in rural LeMars, the daughter of Max and Mathilde (Null) Utesch. She attended country school in Brunsville, Iowa. She was baptized on April 2, 1908, and confirmed on April 13, 1924, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Johnson Township, Plymouth County, Iowa.

She married Vernon Pendleton on June 12, 1929, in Sioux City. After their marriage they farmed in the Akron and LeMars areas until retirement. After retirement in 1972 they moved to LeMars. Mr. Pendleton died April 11, 1986. After her husband’s death, she continued to live at home. She moved to Plymouth Manor Care Center in LeMars in May 2001.

Survivors include two daughters and their husbands, Imogene and Don Dickman of Merrill, Iowa, and Donna Rae and Don Cornish of Ireton, Iowa; five grandchildren, Doug Dickman of Sioux City, Vickie Konz of Oyens, Iowa, Greg Cornish of Akron, Barry Cornish of Craig, Iowa, and Bruce Cornish of Sioux City; 13 great-grandchildren; a brother Max Utesch of Brunsville; and a brother-in-law, Herb Raby of Merrill.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, August and Harry; four sisters, Viola Utesch, Hannah Peters, Tilly Raby and Lillian Taylor; and a grandson, Curtis Cornish.
