Norma Olson, 65, of Seney, died Sunday, March 26, 1995, at her home in Seney.

Norma Esther Ehlers was born Sept. 16, 1929, at Paullina, the daughter of Fred and Vinnie (McNeil) Ehlers. Her father died when she was a young child and her mother married Rev. James E. Lombard. She grew up in the Smithland area and later moved to Seney. She graduated from LeMars High School.

On Oct. 29, 1948, she married Albert Olson at Seney United Methodist Church. The couple made their home in Seney where she was a homemaker and also provided childcare in their home for a time. She enjoyed bowling and being active in her church.

Mrs. Olson was a member of Seney United Methodist Church where she had served as president and secretary in the Methodist Women’s Organization. She had been a Sunday school teacher for 30 years. She had also been secretary of the church council and was active in the Christian Women’s Club.

Survivors include her husband; four children, Gene and Sharon Olson of Seney, Pat and Mike Stinton of LeMars, Cindy Olson of Seney and Alicia and Dave Alvey of LeMars; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Illene Shepard of the LeMars area; a brother, Darrell Lombard and his wife, Fern, of Belton, S.C.; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and stepfather; and seven step-brothers and sisters.

Services will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Seney United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dan Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Wednesday, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at the Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in LeMars.
