Lawrence Olson, 57, Council Bluffs, formerly of Seney, was killed Monday night (May 16, 1983) in a car-pickup accident at North Platte, Neb.

The Nebraska State Patrol said Olson was driving an eastbound car which collided with a southbound pickup driven by Cesar A. Valencia, 22, North Platte. The accident happened just after 11 p.m.

Valencia is charged with motor vehicle homicide and intoxication.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at St. John's American Lutheran Church, LeMars. Rev. Eberhart Hering, Council Bluffs, and Rev. Tom Lee will officiate. Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens. There will be a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Mauer Funeral Home in LeMars.

Mr. Olson was born Nov. 19, 1925, in LeMars, to Ole B. and Alvena (Rothbart) Olson. He was employed for 30 years by Chicago Northwestern Railroad and the last seven years was a federal railroad inspector, living at Council Bluffs.

He married Eunice Erickson May 17, 1949, at Seney.

Mr. Olson was a member of St. John's American Lutheran Church. He was a veteran of World War II and a member of the American Legion.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Violet, and a brother, Fred.

Survivors are his wife; a daughter, Gloria J., Council Bluffs; a son, Terry L., rural LeMars; three brothers, Albert, William and Calmer, all of LeMars, and one sister, Alma Willer, LeMars.
