DUANE LUDWIGS FOUND DEAD AT SIOUX CITY
Duane Ludwigs, 37, former Grant township farmer, was accidentally killed about 1 a.m. today while working on the night shift at Cargill Feed Co. in Sioux City.
A brother-in-law, Romaine Popken, said the foreman at the feed plant found Mr. Ludwigs. He apparently fell from a truck, sustaining a skull fracture.
The body was found at 1:30 a.m. and time of death was set one-half hour earlier.
Mr. Ludwigs was born April 23, 1928, in LeMars. His marriage to Jeanean Popken took place Jan. 6, 1953, in Grant township.
The couple farmed in Grant township until last November, when they held a closing out auction and moved to Sioux City. He had since been employed by Cargill.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Morningside Lutheran Church, with Pastor Palmer B. Wold officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Cemetery of LeMars.
W. Harry Christy funeral home in Morningside is in charge of arrangements. A prayer service will be held at 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Survivors are his wife; four sons, Dwight, Darnell, Jerry and Timothy and a daughter, Tamara, all at home.
Also surviving are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. H. Ludwigs, of LeMars.
