Grant Chapman Taken By Death
Well Known Farmer Of Seney VicinityGrant Chapman, 79, well known farmer of Sioux county and resident of Seney vicinity nearly all his life, died Saturday, March 25, at Carlsbad, N. M. Mr. Chapman had been failing in health for some time and death was caused by a heart attack.
Of late years Mr. Chapman lived in Seney after retiring from his farm in Sioux county. For the past few years he spent the winters in New Mexico with his daughter, Miss Constance Chapman, who is a teacher in the Carlsbad schools.
Grant Chapman was a son of the late T. K. Chapman, well known resident of LeMars for many years. He was born at Greenfield, Ohio, February 6, 1865, and came with his parents to Aurora, Buchanan county, Iowa, when a boy and later to LeMars. He was married to Margaret March, who preceded him in death about seven years ago. He is survived by one son, Thurit K. Chapman of Sioux county and a daughter, Miss Constance Chapman, five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and a brother, Elam Chapman of Sioux county. Two brothers, Charles and Fred, preceded him in death.
Mr. Chapman was a successful farmer and highly respected by all who knew him as a good citizen and neighbor. The remains were brought home and funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock p.m. Wednesday at the Methodist church in Seney with Rev. J. E. Lombard officiating and interment made in the Seney cemetery.
The Wiltgen funeral home of LeMars is in charge of arrangements.

Rites To Be Held Wednesday Afternoon At SeneyWord was received here of the death of Grant Chapman at Carlsbad, N. M., on Saturday, March 25, following a brief sickness.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday afternoon at two o’clock from the Seney church with Rev. J. E. Lombard conducting the service. Burial will be in the Seney cemetery under the direction of Wiltgen’s funeral home.
The body will be taken to the T. K. Chapman home near Seney late Tuesday afternoon.
Grant Chapman was born Feb. 6, 1865, at Brimfield, Ohio, from where he moved to Freeport, Ill., then Independence, Iowa, and came to LeMars in March, 1883.
On December 30, 1891, he was married to Margaret March of Seney, who preceded him in death in 1938.
He is survived by one daughter, Constance Chapman of Carlsbad, N.M., and one son, Thurit Chapman of Maurice; also one brother, Elam Chapman of Maurice, and five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
