Darwin D. Mulder

Darwin Mulder, 67, of Alton, died Monday, Jan. 4, 1999, at the Orange City hospital.

A memorial service was held on Friday, Jan. 8, at 3:00 p.m. at the Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City. The Rev. David Daumer of Faith Lutheran Church in Orange City officiated. Burial followed at Resthaven Memory Gardens, rural LeMars.

Darwin Dean was born July 15, 1931, at Remsen, the son of Arthur F. and Lydia Marie (Ramhorst) Mulder. He was raised at Alton.

On Aug. 19, 1950, he married LaVonne Lucille “Bonnie” Mesner at Paullina. They made their home in Alton where Darwin was employed in the construction industry. Mrs. Mulder died Feb. 11, 1997, in Sioux City.

Darwin enjoyed woodworking, especially making toys for his grandchildren.

Survivors include his 11 children, Candice Zitterich of Mason City, Mike and his wife Deanna of Alton, Al and his wife Loralei of Spirit Lake, Maxine and her husband Henry Van Engen of Escondido, Calif., Robert and his wife Roberta of Hull, Richard and his wife Tammy of Sheldon, Daniel and his wife Karen of Rock Rapids., Douglas of Joliet, Ill., Russell and his wife Patricia of Scottsdale, Ariz., John of Anamosa, and Paul and his special friend Rhonda of Toledo, Ohio; 18 grandchildren; a step-grandson; a great-granddaughter; three sisters, Wanda Schuver of Sanborn, Donna Gesink of Alton, and Linda Zwagerman of Glendale, Ariz.; and a brother, Dale, of Lake St. Louis, Mo.
