ROBERT LUNDGREN
Robert (Bob) Lundgren, 81, LeMars, Plymouth County native and lifelong resident, died Thursday (July 12, 1990) at Floyd Valley Hospital after an illness of several months.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Remsen St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, with Rev. Karl Rydholm officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens, rural LeMars.
Friends may call after 2 p.m. Friday at St. Paul’s Church in Remsen.
A prayer service will be held at 8 p.m. Friday at the church.
The Moeller Funeral Home in Remsen is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Lundgren was born April 15, 1909, in Fredonia Township, north of Oyens, the son of Albert and Grace Baldwin Lundgren. He attended rural schools in Fredonia Township and LeMars Central High School. He then worked on his father’s farm. His marriage to Irene Haack took place Nov. 25, 1937, at St. Paul’s Church in Remsen.
After their marriage in 1937, the couple made their home in Oyens until 1946. At that time, Bob operated Lundgren Trucking from 1934 to 1946. They moved to the farm in Fredonia Township and farmed for 27 years, moving into LeMars in 1974.
He was a member of St. Paul’s Church in Remsen and past church treasurer for 12 years. He had served for six years on the church council. Mr. Lundgren was a member of Plymouth County Farm Bureau, the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie 1381; Giblem Lodge 322, AF and AM; Lions Club; past president of the Orange City Creamery; and a member of the Eagle Eager Backers Club.
Mr. and Mrs. Lundgren celebrated 50 years of married life on Nov. 25, 1987.
Survivors are his wife, Irene, LeMars; a son, Dennis, living at home; a sister, Mrs. William (Gladys) Harms of LeMars.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sandra, Nov. 1963; a brother, Allen Lundgren, March 24, 1990; two brothers, Floyd, at age 3 years and his twin brother, in infancy.
