IRENE LUNDGREN
Mrs. Robert (Irene Evelyn) Lundgren, 77, longtime LeMars and area resident, died Sunday (Sept. 22, 1991) at Plymouth Manor Care Center. She had been failing in health for the past year.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul Evangelical Church in Remsen where she had been a faithful member for many years. Rev. Craig Miller will officiate.
Burial will be at Resthaven Memory Gardens, rural LeMars, under the direction of the Moeller Funeral Home in Remsen.
Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. Paul’s Church and continue all afternoon and evening until 9 p.m. Family will be present from 7-9 p.m. at the church.
The former Irene Haack was born Sept. 10, 1914, at Remsen to William and Margaret Rumohr Haack. She attended Remsen country schools.
Her marriage to Robert (Bob) Lundgren took place Nov. 25, 1937, at St. Paul’s Church in Remsen. She was a longtime member of Martha Circle at the church and was prominent in all church activities. Mrs. Lundgren had been in charge as hostess for lunch arrangements for all funerals at St. Paul’s Church for over 25 years.
Survivors are a son, Dennis, of LeMars; two brothers, Charles Haack and wife, Norma, of Mt. Vernon, Iowa, and Earl Haack and wife, Rita, of LeMars; two sisters, Inez Kettler of Rock Valley and Mrs. Jim (Mildred) Smith of Lisbon, Iowa; many nieces and nephews; two sisters-in-law, Shirley Lundgren, LeMars and Mrs. Bill (Gladys) Harms of LeMars.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert, who died July 12, 1990; a daughter, Sandra Fennema who died Nov. 29, 1963, and a granddaughter (Fenneman) who also died in 1963.
