LYDIA LADENTHIN

Lydia Ladenthin, 88, of LeMars, died Tuesday, Feb. 17, 1998, at Floyd Valley Hospital in LeMars.

Mrs. Ladenthin, the former Lydia Lang, was born Feb. 22, 1909, in Stanton Township, rural Plymouth County, the daughter of Christian Fritz and Ida (Heimgartner) Lang. She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lincoln Township.

She attended the Sioux City Beauty College and operated Lydia’s Beauty Shop for 35 years. On April 10, 1951, she married Herbert Ladenthin at Grace Lutheran Church in LeMars. He died March 1, 1983.

She had been a resident of Brentwood Good Samaritan Center since May of 1996.

She was a charter member of Grace Lutheran Church in LeMars, member of the Sarah Circle, and member of the Joy Ladies of the church. She had been a church organist for 60 years. She was also a past member of the National Hairdresser Society, Sunshine Club and the 8 Til Late Club.

Survivors include a brother and his wife, Don and Lois Lang of LeMars; a brother-in-law, Harold and his wife, Anna Mae Ladenthin of Marcus; three sisters-in-law, Viola Lang and Mildred Lang, both of LeMars, and Marjorie Ladenthin of Kingsley; and several nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Harold, Edward, and Eldon; and two sisters, Laura and Alvina.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Grace Lutheran Church in LeMars with the Rev. Larry Fett officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens, rural LeMars. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today (Wednesday) with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at the Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in LeMars.
