ELMER KRUSE
Elmer Kruse, 72, of LeMars, a Plymouth County native and lifelong resident, died Friday, Feb. 24, 1989, at his home in rural LeMars. He had been ill for nine months.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Monday at St. John’s American Lutheran Church in LeMars with Rev. David Kramer officiating. Burial was in LeMars Resthaven Memory Gardens. Visitation was after 2 p.m. Sunday with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. at Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in LeMars.
Mr. Kruse was born Dec. 25, 1916, in Grant Township, Plymouth County, son of Harm H. and Anna (Nannen) Kruse. He married Leila Utesch Oct. 17, 1947, in LeMars. He farmed and also was employed with the REC for 36 years, retiring in 1981.
Mr. Kruse was a member of St. John's American Lutheran Church of LeMars. He was a veteran of World War II.
Survivors are his wife; four sons David, of Remsen, Roger of Grimes and Eugene and Bruce, both of LeMars; a daughter, Barbara Kruse of LeMars; three brothers, William, George and Herman Kruse, all of LeMars; two sisters, Mildred Schulz of LeMars and Edna Schubbe of Peotone, Ill.; four grandchildren; two step grandchildren and three step great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, John and Louis and a brother in infancy.
