LE MARS, Iowa -- Vincent A. Krienert, 80, of rural Le Mars died Thursday, Aug. 8, 2002, in Sioux City.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Carlsen Funeral Home in Le Mars, with the Rev. Peter Boe officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be after 5 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m., at the funeral home.
Vincent Adolph Krienert was born Aug. 19, 1921, in Osmond, Neb., the son of Joseph III and Christina (Stieren) Krienert. He was raised in the Osmond area. In the early 1940s, he came to Plymouth County, Iowa, and worked as a hired hand for several farmers.
He was united in marriage to Clara Jelken on Jan. 14, 1949, at St. John Lutheran Church in Preston Township. The couple farmed in Washington Township for many years. Clara passed away Nov. 11, 2000. He continued to live on the family farm, where he was committed to his love of farming and raising cattle.
Survivors include his 10 children, Barbara and her husband, Norman Dather of Melvin, Iowa, Kenneth and his wife, Cindy Krienert of Brunsville, Iowa, Edwin and his wife, Gerry Sue Krienert of Le Mars, Stanley Krienert of Sioux City, Phillip and his wife, Robin Krienert of Le Mars, Roger and his wife, Deborah Krienert of Le Mars, Lyle and his wife, Alice Krienert of Le Mars, Joan and her husband, John Niewohner of Lyons, Neb., Margaret and her husband, Martin Sitzmann of Great Falls, Mont., and Arleen and her husband, Alan Markowski of Highland Ranch, Colo.; three brothers, Norbert and his wife, Lucille Krienert of Osmond, Adolph and his wife, Margaret Krienert of Snyder, Neb., and Joseph Krienert IV of Earlville, Iowa; three sisters, Clara and her husband, Charles Throener of Dodge, Neb., Helen and her husband, Lawrence Hetrick of Milford, Iowa, and Loretta Krienert of Somonauk, Ill.; 34 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter, Kristina Krienert; and two sisters, Sister Lauriana Krienert and Marie Throener.
Pallbearers will be his sons, Kenneth, Edwin, Stanley, Phillip, Roger and Lyle Krienert.
