MERLIN S. KALAS

MERRILL, Iowa---Merlin Sahl Kalas, 69, of rural Merrill died Tuesday, July 17, 2001, at his residence.

Private graveside services will be Friday in Resthaven Memory Gardens Cemetery, LeMars, Iowa. Arrangements are under the direction of Douglas Carlson of LeMars.

Mr. Kalas was born Sept. 29, 1931, in LeMars, the son of Otto and Julia (Sahl) Kalas. He lived in Plymouth County his entire life.

Survivors include a brother and his wife, Richard and Gerri of Merrill; three nieces and their husbands, Terri and Jim Dryden of South Sioux City, Twyla and John Malloy of Hinton, Iowa, and Sheila and Bruce Smit of LeMars; and several grandnieces and grandnephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
