ELMER KROEGER
Elmer H. Kroeger, 76, Remsen farmer, was stricken suddenly at his farm home Sunday afternoon, March 15, 1992, and was rushed by ambulance to Floyd Valley Hospital, LeMars, where he was dead on arrival.
Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 18, at Trinity Lutheran Church, rural Marcus. Rev. J. Michael Smith officiated. Burial was in Resthaven Cemetery in LeMars under the direction of the Moeller Funeral Home.
Elmer Henry Kroeger was born August 16, 1915, in Henry Township, Plymouth County, to Otto and Emma (Peters) Kroeger.
He entered the U.S. Army on March 14, 1942, and was in the 90th Division of the Army under General Patton, that crossed France, Belgium and Germany and was in the Battle of the Bulge. He returned home in October of 1945.
He married Viola Pingel on Feb. 1, 1947, at Peace Lutheran Church, Marcus. They farmed the Kroeger home place near Remsen.
Mr. Kroeger was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church congregation and served the church in many offices.
Surviving are his wife, Viola; two sons, Dennis of Remsen and Dale of LeMars; three grandsons; two granddaughters; and a sister, Mrs. Charles (Lois) Krekow of Marcus.
