Frances Mackey, 81, of Le Mars, passed to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, June 4, 2007, at the Plymouth Manor Care Center in Le Mars.

Francis Lorraine Scott was born May 24, 1926, in Akron, the daughter of James and Pearl (Nall) Scott. She attended school in Akron and after her senior year, she taught country school near Akron. She was united in marriage to Francis Albert Mackey on March 31, 1946. They farmed in the Akron and Cherokee areas for several years.

Frances worked as a waitress at the Hi-Way Café in Akron and as a nurses aide at the Akron Care Center, St. Vincent and St. Luke's Hospitals in Sioux City. She was the night cashier as the old Sioux Harbor Truck Stop for many years. After her children were grown, she drove truck with her husband for several years. In the spring of 1985, she and her husband moved to Mesa, Ariz. In 1991, they returned to Iowa and made their home in Le Mars.

Frances was a member of the Le Mars Church of Christ, where she sang and played the organ for services. She loved to sing and listen to music, especially gospel. She was singing often even in her final days. Everyone knew her as a dear, talented, gentle lady who showed Christ's love to all and made everyone know they were valued. She never turned anyone away who needed something and truly lived her life to enrich the lives of those around her. Something she greatly succeeded at doing.

Survivors include her seven children: James Mackey and his wife Randi of Le Mars, Ron Mackey and his wife Sandi of Gilbert, Ariz., Douglas Mackey and his wife Cora of Akron, Julie Moriston of Onawa, Kathy Nichols of Onawa, Cynthia Osterholt and her husband Jerry of Castana, and Steven Mackey and his wife Teri of Sioux City; 16 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and several "adopted" grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law: Margaret Fletcher of Des Plaines, Ill., and Ruth Ann Assmussen of Villa Park, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Francis; a sister: Dorothy Sailor; a brother: Harold Scott; an infant great-grandson: Austin Ray Collins; and several other in-laws.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Le Mars Church of Christ (1333 Adler Dr. S.E.) with Pastor Casey Kleeman officiating. Interment will be Saturday afternoon at Memorial Park Cemetery in Sioux City. Visitations with the family present will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday evening at Carlsen Funeral Home in Le Mars. Visitation will continue Saturday morning from 9:30 a.m. until service time.
