VERNA M. MURPHY

LE MARS, Iowa --- Mrs. John Jr. (Verna) Murphy, LeMars, died Wednesday, June 14, 1995, at Plymouth Manor Care Center in LeMars following a lengthy illness.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in LeMars with Rev. Dale J. George and the Rev. John Cain concelebrating. Burial will be in LeMars Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with a Christian Mother’s rosary at 4 p.m., a Scriptural wake service at 7 p.m. and a Catholic Daughters of America rosary at 7:30 p.m., at the Feuerstein Funeral Home, LeMars.

Mrs. Murphy was born near Remsen, the daughter of John and Marie (Raveling) Wulf. She grew up in the Remsen and Marcus areas and graduated from high school at Marcus. She attended Morningside College in Sioux City and Western Union College in LeMars. She married John Murphy Jr Sept 22, 1951, in Sioux City. The couple farmed their entire married life south of LeMars in Stanton Township.

Mrs. Murphy was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and the church Guild; Christian Mother’s Society and Catholic Daughters of America.

Survivors include three daughters and their husbands, Rebecca and Evan Stadlman of Ankeny, Kathleen and Dennis Connolly of Urbandale and Jean and Robert Langle of Carol Stream, Ill.; three sons, Michael of Kansas City, Mo., Patrick S. of LeMars and Robert and his wife, Diana, of Springfield, Ore.; 10 grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Clara Ranschau of Rock Valley and Mrs. Robert (Joyce) Yusten of Dakota City, Neb., and two brothers, Richard Wulf and his wife, Dixie, and Melvin Wulf, all of Bronson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters and a brother.
