AKRON, Iowa -- Edna Florence Frerichs, 88, of Akron died Saturday, Nov. 16, 2002, in Akron.

Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Akron, with Sonja Brucklacher officiating. Burial will be in Hawarden City Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at Schroeder Funeral Home in Akron.

Mrs. Frerichs was born Oct. 20, 1914, Union County, S.D., the daughter of George and Bertha (Schimming) Kleinhans. She was baptized Nov. 29, 1914, and confirmed April 13, 1930, all at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hawarden, Iowa.

She married Ben Frerichs on June 23, 1937, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Akron. Mr. Frerichs preceded her in death on Sept. 12, 1982.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and Martha Circle. In her free time, she loved all animals and flowers.

Survivors include a daughter, Mary Ellen Iezzi of Sioux City; a son and his wife, Gene and Alberta Frerichs of Hawarden; four grandchildren, Russell Frerichs and his wife, Vanessa of Austin, Texas, Mark Frerichs and his wife, Michelle of Edmond, Okla., Anthony Iezzi and his wife, Glee of Eugene, Ore., and Jill Frerichs of Colorado Springs, Colo.; three great-grandchildren; a niece and three nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Laurence; six brothers, Emil, Fred, Albert, Ben, George Jr. and John; a sister, Dorothy Banzoff; and a grandson, Michael Frerichs.
