FRANCES RITCHIE
Frances Ritchie, 81, LeMars, died Thursday (April 16, 1987) at Plymouth Manor Care Center after a brief illness. She lived in LeMars since 1955.
Funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in LeMars. Rev. Gordon Rhodes will officiate and burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens under the direction of the Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home.
Friends may call after 3 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. The family will be present from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
The former Frances Waterbury, she was born July 4, 1905, at Rosebud Reservation, S.D., to Charles and Josie Waterbury-Waterbury. She graduated from Hudson High School in 1925, and attended Wesleyan College at Madison, S.D. She taught school at Worthing and Lennox, S.D.
She married Herman Jahde July 8, 1933, at Madison, S.D. He died August 12, 1973. She married Omer Ritchie July 5, 1975, in LeMars.(Correction: She married Herman Jahde June 14, 1933, not July 8--per her daughter, Sharon.)
Mrs. Ritchie was past president of the LeMars Senior Citizens, and was in charge of starting a mini-bus in LeMars.
Survivors are her husband, Omer, LeMars; a son, Richard Jahde of Maurice; a daughter, Mrs. Charles (Sharon) Rokes of Washburn, Iowa, and three grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a brother and three sisters.
