GUDRUN B. JOHNSON

LE MARS, Iowa --- Gudrun Bergloit “Goody” Johnson, 87, of LeMars, died Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2000, at Brentwood Good Samaritan Center in LeMars.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. John’s Lutheran Church in LeMars, with the Rev. Gary Landsness officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be after 4 p.m. Sunday, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in LeMars.

Mrs. Johnson was born Aug. 24, 1913, in Regan, N.D., the daughter of Steiner L. and Ruth V. (Knudtson) Jordahl. She was raised and educated in Regan. She received her teaching certificate and taught school in Canfield, N.D., where she also coached girls high school basketball.

She married Emil J. Johnson on Dec. 31, 1936, in Moorhead, Iowa. The coupled lived in Moorehead for four years before moving to Los Angeles. They later returned to Iowa and settle on a farm in Union township. In 1953, they purchased a farm in Fredonia Township, where they lived until 1972. They would spend winters in Rio Grande Valley, Texas. She entered Brentwood Good Samaritan Center in 1995.

She was a member of Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Oyens, Iowa, where she taught Sunday School and directed the choir. She was one of the founding members of Brentwood Auxiliary. She enjoyed singing and music.

Survivors include two sons, Garth of LeMars, and Dennis and his wife, Nancy, of Idaho Springs, Colo.; two daughters Kay Parker of Algonquin, Ill., and Viki and her husband, Tom Grzelinski of Jacksonville, Fla.; three brothers and their wives, Julius and Yvonne Jordahl of Brunswick, Ga., Randolph and Melba Jordahl of Fresno, Calif., and Norman And Rita Jordahl of Sioux City; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; six nephews; and six nieces.

She was preceded in death by her husband; two brothers, Kenmar and Ben Jordahl; a brother-in-law, Orlo Johnson; and an infant sister, Solvieg Jordahl.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Chris, Curtis and Doug Parker and Kent Johnson, and her nephews, Steve Johnson and Laren Jordahl.
