DALE JACOBSON
Dale Jacobson, 61, LeMars, a LeMars city councilman and active participant in civic and church affairs, died early today (Thursday, Dec. 21, 1989) at Sioux City St. Luke's Regional Medical Center, after a lengthy illness. He had been hospitalized for 2 ½ weeks.
The body was donated to the University of South Dakota School of Medicine for medical research.
Memorial services will be held at a later date at Calvary United Methodist Church with Rev. Kenneth Royar officiating.
Mr. Jacobson was born Jan. 14, 1928, in Dual County, SC, to John and Grace Fields Jacobson. He moved to Pipestone, Minn., as a young boy. He operated the family grocery store at Pipestone until 1968 when he moved to Chicago and was the administrator of a nursing home.
He came to LeMars in 1972 where he was administrator of The Abbey from 1972 to 1978. Since 1978, Mr. Jacobson had been the administrative assistant of Plymouth Life, Inc.
In 1949, he married Dorothy Carlson at Pipestone. He served as county commissioner of Pipestone County in Minnesota for 12 years.
He served all offices in both Pipestone and LeMars with the Lions Club.
Mr. Jacobson was a lay leader at Calvary United Methodist Church.
His marriage to Phylis Luken Tanner took place June 21, 1975, in LeMars.
Survivors are his wife, Phylis of LeMars; a son, John, of LasVega; two daughters, Mrs. Steve (Teysa) Fymbl of Storm Lake and Tammy Tanner of LeMars; a stepson, Mark Tanner of Jefferson, S.D.; two grandsons, Dustin and Nels Fymbl; his mother, Grace Fields Jacobson, of Pipestone; a brother Duane, of Stranberg, S.D.; three sisters, Mrs. Jack (Ione) Miller of Pueblo, Colo.; Mrs. Bill (Edna) Nelson of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Mrs. Darwin (Lea) Hurd of Pipestone.
He was preceded in death by his father.
