JOHN E. HULS

John E. Huls, 89, of LeMars, died Tuesday, Sept. 6, 1994, at the Akron Convalescent Care Center in Akron.

John E. Huls was born Sept. 28, 1904, in rural Plymouth County to Henry and Hilke J. (Bohms) Huls. He attended rural school. On Jan. 8, 1930, he married Mildred M. Albers at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Preston Township. John and Mildred were engaged in farming for many years. They moved to LeMars in 1967. Mrs. Huls died in January 1968.

Survivors include one daughter, Gladys Kolker and her husband, Dale of LeMars; a son-in-law, Fran Van Asselt of Parker, S.D.; one brother, Peter Huls of Sioux City; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Mildred; a daughter, Mabel Van Asselt on Sept. 16, 1993; a sister, Rena Ahrendsen; one grandson and one great-granddaughter.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 9, at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Preston Township, rural Akron, with the Rev. Beth Graham officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens, LeMars, at 4 p.m. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Thursday at Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in LeMars, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
