RICHARD HUGHES
Richard L. Hughes, 37, rural Merrill, died Tuesday (April 3, 1984) at Marian Health Center, Sioux City, after an extended illness.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church, Merrill. Rev. Dennis Sefcik will officiate and burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens, LeMars, under the direction of the Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home. A rosary will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Mr. Hughes was born July 10, 1946, at Portsmouth, Iowa, to Glenn and Bernadine Gessert Hughes. He married Donna J. Boettger April 29, 1967, at Akron and the couple lived at rural Merrill.
He was a member of Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church.
Survivors are his wife, Donna; sons, Robert, David, Allen, Christopher and a daughter, Susan, all of Merrill; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Hughes, Akron; seven sisters, Mrs. Donald (Kathleen) Renken, Brunsville; Mrs. Richard (Aldine) Meinen, Katy, Tex.; Mrs. Larry (Marylin) Tucker, Boiling Brook, Ill.; Mrs. Junior ( Diane) Otten, Elk Point; Mrs. David (Colletta) Boettger, LeMars; Mrs. Gary (Glenda) Arens, Akron, and Mrs. Michael (Patricia) Toben, Alcester; three brothers, Ronald of Westfield; Alfred of Portsmouth; and James of Alcester. He was preceded in death by two brothers in infancy.
