LOWELL HILLRICHS
Lowell Hillrichs, 70, of Craig, Iowa, died suddenly Tuesday, May 19, 1998, at Floyd Valley Hospital in LeMars. Funeral services were Friday, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Craig with Reverend Doug Dowling officiating. Interment was in Resthaven Memory Gardens.
Lowell Eugene Hillrichs was born July 31, 1926, on the family farm east of Akron, Iowa, to Henry and Katherine (Westergard) Hillrichs. Lowell was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. He received his education in a country school near Akron. Lowell was united in marriage to Cornelia Ritter on November 28, 1952, in Hawarden, Iowa. Lowell had farmed for 24 years in the Craig area before moving to Craig in 1976. He had also worked for Lorenson Refuse in Akron for several years. Lowell was an active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and was always willing to assist in anyway he could to the church, family and friends. He enjoyed his family and spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife Cornelia of Craig; a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Harlan Priekstat, of Grand Island, Nebraska; a twin sister, Lois and her husband, Ervin Stevens, of Centerville, South Dakota; 2 brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Shirley Hillrichs of Akron, Iowa, and Donald and Marilyn Hillrichs of Fremont, Nebraska; 2 grandchildren, Matthew and Rachel Priekstat of Grand Island; and many other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister in infancy, and a son Mark who died in 1973.
