PETER A HAVERHALS

Peter A. “Pete” Haverhals, 56, of rural LeMars, died unexpectedly Tuesday, July 26, 1994, at his residence.

Peter Adrian Haverhals was born Jan. 28, 1938, in Sioux Center, the son of Case and Grace (Vryland) Haverhals. He was baptized Feb. 20, 1938, at the Christian Reformed Church. He graduated from Sioux Center High School. He served his country in the United State Navy from 1955 to 1957. On June 21, 1957, he married Glenda Koerselman in Middleburg. The couple lived in LeMars the last 30 years. Mr. Haverhals had been a truck driver most of his life, and for the last two years had worked for Hentges Oil Co.

Mr. Haverhals was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and the Brunsville American Legion.

Survivors are his two sons, Mike and his wife Ardis Haverhals of rural LeMars, and Kelly Haverhals and his special friend, Ann McCullagh of Winter Park, Colo.; two granddaughters, Mindy and Katie Haverhals of rural LeMars; his mother, Grace Gryzanoski of Orange City; two brothers, John and Marlow Haverhals, both of Grand Rapids, Mich.; one step-brother, Con Haverhals of California; and one step-sister, Geraldine Haverhals of Omaha, Neb.

He was preceded in death by his father and one brother, Lee Haverhals.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at the Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home, LeMars, with the Rev. Dr. Howard Marty officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens, with graveside military honors by the Brunsville American Legion Post #724. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Thursday with the family present from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
