MARVIN J. HARMS
LE MARS, Iowa --- Marvin J. Harms, 71, of LeMars died Tuesday, Jan. 26, 1993, at Floyd Valley Hospital in LeMars after a short illness.
Services will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Grace Lutheran Church in LeMars with Pastor Larry Fett officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens, rural LeMars. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today at Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in LeMars.
Mr. Harms was born July 6, 1921, in Struble, the son of Jurgen and Katherine (Berg) Harms. He married Nellie Erickson Aug. 6, 1948, at Grace Lutheran Church in LeMars. A construction worker, he worked for Klinger Construction Co., of Sioux City for 25 years. He retired in 1982. The couple returned to LeMars in 1988.
Mr. Harms was a member of Grace Lutheran Church. He served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army from September 1942 until January 1946. He was a 45-year member of Wasmer Post 241, American Legion of LeMars.
Survivors include his wife; five sisters, Theresa Fruhling of Raymond, Minn., Regina Oltmanns of LeMars, Angeline and her husband Floyd Martens of Rushmore, Minn., Dorothy and her husband, Howard Foxhoven, of Sioux City, and Sylvia Harms of Des Moines; two brothers, Elmer Harms of Sioux City and Melvin Harms and his wife, Opal, of LeMars; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Helen Lubben and Louise Harms.
