LE MARS, Iowa -- William H. Haage, 82, of Le Mars died Monday, July 15, 2002, at Plymouth Manor Nursing Home in Le Mars.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. today at Christ Lutheran Church in rural Le Mars, with the Rev. Peter Boe officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens Cemetery, with military rites conducted by American Legion Heeren-McHale-Wilken Post 724 of Brunsville, Iowa. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service today at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars.

William H. Haage was born Jan. 2, 1920, on the family farm in Johnson Township, Plymouth County, Iowa, the son of John and Sena (Cassen) Haage. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in rural Akron, Iowa. He attended country school near his home. He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He entered into active duty on June 11, 1942, at Fort Crook, Neb. He attained the rank of Tech. 4, prior to his honorable discharge on March 15, 1946.

On Dec. 17, 1952, William and Clara Plueger were united in marriage at Christ Lutheran Church in Grant Township, Plymouth County, Iowa. The couple farmed in various places in Plymouth County, retiring to Le Mars in 1983. Clara passed away on Dec. 29, 2001. He entered Plymouth Manor Nursing Home earlier this year.

He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, American Legion Heeren-McHale-Wilken Post 724. The couple enjoyed fishing in the Iowa Great Lakes area.

He will be lovingly remembered by his two brothers, Arnold Haage and his wife, Violet of Glasford, Ill., and Norman Haage of Hanna City, Ill.; a sister-in-law, Amanda (Mrs. Harvey) Haage of Le Mars; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and good friends.

He also was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Elmer and Harvey.
