LE MARS, Iowa -- Clara Haage, 81, of Le Mars died Saturday, Dec. 29, 2001, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Christ Lutheran Church, rural Le Mars, with the Rev. Peter Boe officiating. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memory Gardens Cemetery, rural Le Mars. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Tuesday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the services Wednesday at the church.

Clara E.M. Haage was born Dec. 17, 1920, in Grant Township, Plymouth County, Iowa, the daughter of Theodore and Catherina (Westhoff) Plueger. She attended country school in Grant Township. Following her education, Clara worked as a homemaker for various families.

On Dec. 17, 1952, Clara and William Haage were united in marriage at Christ Lutheran Church in Grant Township. The couple farmed in various places in Plymouth County before retiring to Le Mars in 1983.

She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in rural Le Mars. She enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening and was well-known for her embroidery. She will be lovingly remembered by her family and friends.

Survivors include her husband, William of Le Mars; a brother, Elmer Plueger and his wife, Bernice of Merrill, Iowa; sisters-in-law, Annie Hennigs and Lucille Plueger, both of Le Mars; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Fred, Charles, Dick, Edward and Clarence; and sisters, Louise Plueger and Regina Heeren.
