Clarence A. Fursee, 88, of Browns Valley, Minn., formerly of Sioux City, died Friday, Jan. 16, 2004, at Browns Valley Health Center.

Memorial services were held Jan. 19 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Beardsley, Minn. The Rev. Jack Nordick officiated and Sister Marlene Konrady assisted. Arrangements were under the direction of Larson Funeral Home in Ortonville, Minn.

Clarence Alonzo Fursee was born April 21, 1915, in Westfield, Iowa, to Harry and Anna Fursee.

On Sept. 7, 1946, he was united in marriage to Emma Gertrude Greaney in New Jersey. He had worked for Memorial Park Cemetery in Sioux City for many years. In their later years, they moved to Big Stone Lake where they retired.

When visiting their home, everyone had to have coffee and something to eat. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and visiting. He was a member of the American Legion in Beardsley.

Survivors include his nieces and nephews, Larry LaFave, Stella Kinnaman, Judy Miller, Darlene Luse, Teresa Fintel, Patty Perry, Robert Perry, Harry "Ed" Rush, Margaret Bogan, John Rush, Mary Craig, Betty Gill, Jimmy C. Johnson Sr., Carrie E. Johnson and Frank Tities.
