MRS. JURGEN HARMS
Mrs. Jurgen (Katherine) Harms, 82, of Struble, a Grant township native and lifelong resident, died Saturday (Sept. 16, 1978) at Floyd Valley Hospital after an extended illness.
Mrs. Harms had lived at the Lynn Apartments, LeMars, since the death of her husband Aug. 30. She was taken by LeMars ambulance Wednesday afternoon to the hospital.
She was born Dec. 10, 1895, in Grant township to Louis and Lena Rewerts Berg. She married Jurgen Harms, Feb. 26, 1914, in Grant township. She also was preceded by her parents and two daughters.
The couple farmed in Grant township until 1928 when they moved to Struble. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, LeMars.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church, LeMars, with Rev. Paul Sieveking officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Cemetery, LeMars, under the direction of the Luken-Johnson Funeral Home.
Survivors are three sons, Marvin and Elmer of Sioux City and Melvin of LeMars; five daughters, Mrs. Werner (Theresa) Fruhling, Wilmar, Minn.; Mrs. Floyd (Angeline) ) Martens, Rushmore, Minn.; Mrs. Howard (Dorothy) Foxhoven, Sioux City; Mrs. Dennis (Sylvia) Root, Perry; and Mrs. Adolph (Regina) Oltmanns, LeMars; 32 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren.
