Darin L. Harms, 22 months, of LeMars, died Friday, Aug. 9, 1996, of complications following heart surgery at the University of Iowa Medical Center in Iowa City.

Darin Lewis Harms was born Sept. 22, 1994, in LeMars, to Jeff and Sonja (Hansen) Harms. His brief time with his family was filled with happiness. He enjoyed playing outdoors and watching Flintsone videos. He was baptized at St. John’s Lutheran Church, ELCA, in LeMars.

Survivors include his parents, Jeff and Sonja Harms of LeMars; a sister, Samantha Harms, at home; maternal grandparents, Barbara and Curtis Hansen of LeMars; paternal grandparents, Melvin and Opal Harms of LeMars; paternal grandmother, Rae Edwards of Moville; maternal great-grandfather, Melvin Hansen of Akron; paternal great-grandmother, Lila Shoecraft of Kingsley; step-great grandmother, Ethel Powers of Exira; several autns and uncles, Staci and Chastey Hansen of Akron, Janet and Mike Nelson of Jackson, Wis., JoAnne Harms of Oconto, Wis., Doug and Yvonne Sorensen of Des Moines, Michael and Janet Sorensen of LeMars, Connie and Freddie Onstine of Powell, Wyo., Debbie and Ray Crilly of Down City, and Kathy and Fred Grinke of Alta; and several cousins.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Rachel.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 13, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, ELCA, with the Rev. David Kramer officiating. Interment was in Resthaven Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today (Monday), with a 7 p.m. prayer service at the Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in LeMars.

Pallbearers will be Doug Sorensen, Staci Hansen, Marty Miller and Blaine Foreman.
