DONALD HANKE

Donald Hanke, 63, longtime Merrill resident, died Monday (June 6, 1988) at Sioux City St. Luke’s Regional Medical Center after a brief illness.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Merrill United Methodist Church with Rev. Bob Davis officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens, LeMars, under the direction of the Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. today (Tuesday). The family will be present from 7 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Hanke was born June 18, 1924, at Ithaca, Neb., to Albert and Lulu Lowell Hanke. He married Opal Swisher Singer Jan. 8, 1982, at Merrill. He was employed at Plymouth Feeds, Merrill.

Survivors are his wife, Opal, of Merrill; a son, Michael Hanke of LeMars; a daughter, Dianne Mullings, Yuma, Ariz.; two step-sons, Jim Singer and Terry Singer, both of LeMars; his father, Albert Hanke, LeMars; a brother, Dale Hanke, LeMars; a sister, Mrs. Robert (Dorothy) Johnson of Northridge, Calif.; three grandchildren; and six step-grandchildren.

His mother preceded him in death June 4, 1987.
