ALBERT A. HANKE
Albert A. Hanke, 98, of LeMars, died Saturday, Aug. 16, 1997, at The Abbey in LeMars.
Albert A. Hanke was born Aug. 29, 1898, in Ithaca, Neb., the son of Herman and Minnie (Zamzow) Hanke. He grew up and received his education in the Ithaca, Neb., area. On Nov. 18, 1920, he married Lulu Lowell at Ashland, Neb. The coupled farmed in Nebraska and in 1941 moved to the LeMars area where he farmed until retiring in 1963. During his retirement Mr. Hanke worked for several years at Camp Calvin Crest Bible Camp near Fremont, Neb., as the caretaker.
Mrs. Hanke died June 4, 1987. Mr. Hanke had been a resident of The Abbey since 1993.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Dale and Sharron Hanke of LeMars; a daughter and son-in-law, Dorothy and Robert Johnson of North Ridge, Calif.; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; eight great great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mildred Shuck of Hastings, Neb., and Mabel Scheuneman of Rock Island, Ill.
He was also preceded in death by in death by his parents; a son, Donald Hanke; three brothers; and a sister.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in LeMars with the Rev. Dave Higdon officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens, LeMars. Visitation will be Wednesday morning from 9 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Michael Hanke, Roger Hanke, Ace Hanke, Wesley Lowell, Henry Lowell, and Clayton Hodgson.
