WILLIAM HAMSTRA

William Hamstra, 69, of Merrill, died Saturday (Feb. 5, 1983) in a Sioux City hospital after a short illness.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Presbyterian United Church of Christ in LeMars. Rev. Robert. L. Grupp will officiate.

Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens.

Family visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the Mauer Funeral Home in LeMars.

Mr. Hamstra was born Jan. 18, 1914, in the Netherlands to John and Katrina Hoekman Hamstra, and came to the United States and to Rock Valley at the age of 6.

He married Berdenna Zwart Dec. 23, 1936, at Artesia, Calif. They lived in California during World War II, returning to Sioux City in 1949. They moved to LeMars in 1959 and to Merrill in 1967. He was a retired feed salesman and entered the hospital on Jan. 19.

Survivors are his wife; four sons, John and Charles of Los Angeles, Calif., Jerry Lee and Terry A., both of Merrill; two daughters, Anna Mae Malcom of LeMars, and Juanita K. Toel of Phoenix, Ariz.; one brother; Clarence of Big River, Calif.; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents, a granddaughter and two brothers and four sisters.
