RAY FERRARI

Ray Ferrari, 66, of McCook Lake died unexpectedly Thursday, Aug. 14, 1997, at his residence.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel in Sioux City with the Rev. Richard Zeck of McCook Lake United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Cemetery in LeMars, Iowa. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. today with the family present from 6 to 9 p.m. and a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Ferrari was born July 18, 1931, in Frasier Iowa, the son of Armando and Frances (Brown) Ferrari. He graduated from Boone High School in Boone, Iowa. He graduated from Iowa State University with a degree in electrical engineering.

He married Janice E. Porsch, on March 25, 1977, in Sioux City.

He was the Mayor of North Sioux City, taking office in May of 1997.

He had been employed for MidAmerica Energy, formerly Iowa Public Service, for 32 years. He was district operations manager for 15 of those years, retiring in 1991.

He was past president of the McCook Lake Association, served on the Board of Directors for the Isaac Walton League and was formerly on the Red Cross Board of Directors. He had been chairman of a housing and redevelopment commission before his election as mayor and was still serving in that position.

From 1951 to 1955 he served with the United States Air Force.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Steve of Gillman, Iowa and Mike and his wife, Beth of Fremont, Neb.; a daughter and her husband, Lisa and Rex Martindale of Sergeant Bluff; a brother and his wife, Roy and Marie of Ankeny, Iowa; three sisters, Marilyn Baker of Willows, Calif., Phyllis and her husband, Jim Hoskins of Elkhart, Iowa, and Beth Ferrari of Des Moines, Iowa; a brother-in-law, Larry Weber of Sioux City; and seven grandchildren, Ray (R.J.), Vince, Chad, and Meagan Ferrari and Brett, Paul and Gail Martindale.

He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister, Carol.

Pallbearers will be John Cook, Don Owings, Bill Gill, Otto Rademacher, Virgil Jones, and Joanie Christiansen.
