JOSEPH BAINBRIDGE

SMITHLAND, Iowa --- Joseph C. Bainbridge, 92, of Smithland died Monday, Sept. 11, 1995, at Pleasant View Nursing Home in Whiting.

Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Pearson Funeral Home in Onawa with the Rev. LeRoy Struble officiating. Burial will be in Little Sioux Township Cemetery at Smithland. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Pearson Funeral Home in Onawa.

Mr. Bainbridge was born Jan. 18, 1903, in Kingsley, the son of John and Annie (Rowe) Bainbridge. He married Ruth Plummer March 10, 1923, in Kingsley. The couple farmed at Climbing Hill and Oto before moving to Smithland in 1964. She died Dec. 16, 1984, in Sioux City. He had been employed with Westendorf Manufacturing in Smithland and Irving F. Jensen Construction Co.

Mr. Bainbridge was a member of the Open Bible Church in Holly Springs.

Survivors include four sons, Owen of Anthon, Loren and his wife Ida, Jack and his wife Nancy, and Ward, all of Smithland; a daughter, Phyllis and her husband, LeRoy Struble of Smithland; 25 grandchildren; 58 great-grandchildren; 22 great great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a grandson, four great-grandchildren; one great great-grandchild; three brothers; four sisters, and a daughter-in-law.
