FRED BAACK

Fred Albert Baack, 83, a former resident of LeMars, died Saturday (June 23, 1979) at a nursing home in Worthington, Minn., after a long illness.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at St. John’s American Lutheran Church in LeMars. Rev. Thomas Lee will officiate. Burial will be in LeMars Memorial Cemetery.

The Mauer Funeral Home of LeMars is in charge of the arrangements.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Oct. 25, 1976; five brothers, Carl, Edward, Walter, George and Herman and by two sisters, Mrs. William Lahr and Mrs. Otto Heien.

He was born May 14, 1896, in Ireton to Frederick and Martha Eggelbrecht Baack. He retired from farming and worked for Sioux Tools for several years. He lived from 1941 to 1945 in Hawthorne, Nev., and from 1945 to 1950 he operated business in Sioux City.

From 1950 to 1953 he operated a laundry in LeMars. He had also been a painter.

Mr. Baack was a member of the Lutheran Church and he was a former member of the American Legion. He was a veteran of World War I.

His marriage to Marie T. L. Eilers took place Sept. 10, 1924, in Craig.

Survivors are a son Lawrence (Larry) Baack, Fairmont, Minn.; a daughter, Mrs. Bernard (Fern) Gallagher, Port Orchard, Wash.; two stepson, Leonard DeVall, Lufkin, Tex. And Roger DeVall, Jeffersonville, Ind.; 14 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
