DONNA GUNDEL

Donna Gundel, 51, of LeMars, died Monday, Feb. 15, 1993, at Floyd Valley Hospital in LeMars.

Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at St. John’s American Lutheran Church in LeMars, with the Rev. David Kramer officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens, LeMars. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Wednesday, with the family present from 7 to 8 p.m., at Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in LeMars.

Mrs. Gundel was born March 18, 1941, in LeMars, the daughter of Leo and Minnie (Steen) Bishop. She lived in LeMars until 1961 when she moved to San Diego, Calif., where she lived for three years. She married Robert Schell May 4, 1962, in LeMars. They couple then moved to the Quad Cities and lived there from 1964 to 1973 when they moved back to LeMars. Mr. Schell died May 9, 1979. She worked at Bricker’s Jewelry from 1974 to 1985 and on Oct. 16, 1981, she married Bernie G. Gundel in LeMars.

She was a member of St. John’s American Lutheran Church and the Wasmer Post 241 American Legion Auxiliary.

Survivors include her husband, Bernie G. Gundel of LeMars; one daughter, Teresa and her husband, Darrell Roepke of Merrill; her mother, Mrs. Howard (Minnie) Knudsen of Merrill; one sister, Charleen and her husband, Robert Hilterbrand of Norwalk; and four grandchildren, Scott, Angela, and Jennifer Flewelling, and Emily Ann Roepke.

She was preceded in death by her step-father, Ross Port, and one son, Ronald Schell.
