GRACE HAVERHALS GRYZANOSKI

ORANGE CITY --- Mrs. Grace Haverhals Gryzanoski, 88, of Orange City, died Wednesday, March 5, 1997, at Brentwood Good Samaritan Center in LeMars.

The former Grace Vryland was born July 17, 1908, in Breda, the Netherlands, the daughter of Leonardes and Pietje (Bergman) Vryland. She was raised in the Netherlands.

On Sept. 2, 1930, she married Sebehrt Cornelius Haverhals in the Netherlands. They came to the United States where they farmed between Hawarden and Lebanon. Mr. Haverhals died Nov. 15, 1943, in Sioux county. Grace then moved to Sioux Center. In 1953 she moved to Grand Rapids, Mich., and in 1960, to Artesia, Calif.

On June 10, 1965, she married Edward Gryzanoski at Las Vegas, Nev. The couple made their home in LeMars. Mr. Gryzanoski died Feb. 13, 1975, at LeMars. Grace then moved to Orange City. In January 1997, she became a resident of the Brentwood Good Samaritan Center in LeMars.

She was a member of the First Reformed Church in Orange City.

Survivors include four children, Cornelius Richard Harvehals of Bakersfield, Calif., Geraldine Wilma Haverhals of Omaha, Neb., John Peter Haverhals of Grand Rapids, Mich., and Anthony Marlow Haverhals of Grand Rapids; 15 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and several great, great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by two sons, Leonard Gerard Haverhals and Peter Adrian Haverhals, and a brother, Gerard Simon Vryland.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the First Reformed Church in Orange City with the Rev. David Sterk officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens near LeMars. Visitation will be after 4 p.m. today (Friday), with the family present from 4 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 8 p.m. at the VanEtten-Oolman-VanGelder Funeral Home in Orange City.

Memorials may be directed to the church.
