ORVILLE D. DURR, Sr.
Orville D. Durr, Sr., 71, of LeMars, died Tuesday, Oct. 13, 1992, at Floyd Valley Hospital in LeMars.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home, LeMars, with Rev. Keith Dreckman officiating. Burial will be at Resthaven Memory Gardens, LeMars. Visitation at the funeral home is after 2 p.m. today (Thursday) with the family present from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
Mr. Durr was born Nov. 22, 1920, in LeMars to Paul and Rachel (Pitts) Durr. He married Colleen Simon Oct. 22, 1940, in LeMars. He served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1945 and played in the Orville Durr Band for 35 years. He was retired from the Iowa State Highway Commission.
Mr. Durr was a member of the Wasmer Post 241 of the American Legion and Remsen V.F.W. Post 3328.
Survivors include his wife; children Orville Durr, Jr. and his wife Charlene, Patty Stabel and her husband Bill, Terry Durr and his wife Mabel, Linda Rieken and her husband Dennis, Rodney Durr and his wife Beth; and 17 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Carl, and a brother in infancy; three sisters, Alice Madsen, Irene Nanninga and Jean Corley, and two great-grandchildren, Brett Olson and Amanda Hughes.
