RAY DORR, 69, WAS TURKEY RAISER HERE

Ray Dorr, 69, longtime LeMars businessman, died Monday morning at Floyd Valley Hospital after an illness of more than a year. He had been hospitalized for a week.

He was a retired turkey raiser and founder of Dorr’s Turkey farm here.

Mr. Dorr was born June 27, 1898, in LeMars, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Philip Dorr.

His marriage to Mabel Anderson took place Aug. 7, 1922, at the First Methodist Church in LeMars.

Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Mauer funeral home. A prayer service will be held at 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Rev. H. O. Thompson, LeMars, will officiate. Burial will be in the Resthaven Memory Gardens near LeMars.

Survivors are a son, Jack Dorr, of LeMars; two daughters, Mrs. Perry (Marjorie) Aker, of Sioux Falls and Mrs. Fred (Joyce) Kaschmitter of Minneapolis. There are nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Mr. Dorr had been active in the turkey business until his last illness. More than a year ago he sold his interest to his son, Jack.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Lester, LeMars, and Fred and Clarence of Marcus.

Mr. Dorr was a member of the First Methodist Church, the Elks lodge, the Chamber of Commerce and the National Turkey Growers Assn.
