Funeral for John (Jack) Dorr, 64, LeMars, was held at 10:30 a.m. today (Monday) at the Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in LeMars with the Rev. Frank Phillip officiating. Burial was in Resthaven Memory Gardens, LeMars. Visitation began at 2 p.m. Sunday with the family present from 7-8 p.m., at the funeral home.
Mr. Dorr, a LeMars native, lifelong resident and businessman, died Friday morning (Jan. 5, 1990) at Sioux City Marian Health Center after a three-month illness with cancer.
Mr. Dorr was born Nov. 15, 1925, in LeMars, the son of Raymond and Mabel Anderson Dorr. He married Margaret J. Schueller Nov. 15, 1948, in LeMars.
He served in the United States Navy during World War II, and was a member of the American Legion Wasmer Post 241. He was a member of No. 428, B.P.O. Elks, in LeMars.
Survivors are his wife, Margaret, of LeMars; two sons and daughters-in-law, Dennis and Sharon and Steven and LaDonna, all of LeMars; three daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Dennis Baber of Seattle, Wash., Jackie and Russell Marvin of Greeley, Colo., and Julie and Blaine Zupp of LeMars; a sisters and brother-in-law, Marjorie and Perry Aker of Sioux Falls. He is survived by 14 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Joyce Kaschmitter.
