EARL COOPER RITES MONDAY

Funeral services for Earl Cooper, 81, of 915 1st Ave. SE will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 25 (1974), at St. John American Lutheran Church.

Rev. Arnold Imbrock will officiate. Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens under the direction of the Mauer funeral home.

Mr. Cooper died unexpectedly Thursday (Feb. 21, 1974) at Floyd Valley Hospital after suffering a heart attack. He had been hospitalized one day.

James Earl Cooper was a son of pioneer residents John and Jennie Schipper Cooper, and was born July 8, 1892, in LeMars. He was a veteran of World War I.

His marriage to Martha C. Lehrman took place Feb. 20, 1922, in LeMars.

He was with the former American Trust and Savings Bank for many years, then worked as office manager for a Ford dealership and later was a partner in the Lynch Newsstand.

He was the manager of the Iowa Liquor Store in LeMars before his retirement in 1933. He was a member of Wasmer Post, American Legion, and St. John American Lutheran Church.

Survivors are his wife, Martha; two daughters, Mrs. Ruth (Bud) Lubben of LeMars and Mrs. Joyce (Donald) Whittlesey of Des Moines; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, LeRoy of LeMars, and four sisters, Mrs. Dena Smaltz of LeMars, Mrs. Irene Teefy of Des Moines, Mrs. Lois Woodby of Santa Ana, Calif., and Lucille Cooper, of San Francisco.
