MRS. ERNEST C. GIST

Mrs. Ernest C. Gist, 71, Harris, died Saturday at a Spirit Lake hospital.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Mauer funeral home, LeMars, with Rev. Gale Hawhoe, formerly of Merrill, officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens, LeMars.

The former Marian E. Bixby, she was born Nov. 5, 1889, in LeMars, a daughter of the late John and Mary Billings Bixby. She was married Aug. 14, 1919, in LeMars.

They lived in Madison, S.D., until his retirement in 1958. Since then they spent their winters at Phoenix and their summers at Harris and Spirit Lake.

She was a member of the United Methodist church at Harris, Eastern Star and Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Levi Bixby.

Survivors are her husband; a son, John D. of Madison; a daughter, Mrs. John Hamilton, of Britt; two sisters, Mrs. Gordon Stokes of LeMars, and Mrs. J. G. Yeager of Topeka, Kan.; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
